Why is your name "Blue Cashmere Massage Therapy"? I wanted my company name to evoke the feeling of what a good massage should be. Blue is for the calmness and peace and cashmere is for the luxury and comfort.
What do you mean by "therapeutic massage"? In general, massage either has the end goal of being relaxing or therapeutic. While relaxing massage can be therapeutic, and therapeutic massage is definitely relaxing, I focus on providing therapeutic benefits to customers.
Do you have a physical location? No, I am exclusively a mobile therapist and only provide massage at clients' homes and businesses.
Why isn't your contact information on this site? Because of the inherent risks in going to clients' homes who I have never met in person before, I am a referral only business. Hopefully you are at this site because you received one of my business cards, the cards provide both my phone number and email.
Why do you need a medical history? There are many conditions that massage can help with (stress, muscle tension, stiffness), however, their are some conditions that massage is either not safe for, or will require me to make some adaptations to my technique. There are a few conditions where I cannot give any massage including uncontrolled high blood pressure or uncontrolled diabetes.
I heard that massage lowers blood pressure/cures cellulitis/cures arthritis/increases the immune system? While massage does have many benefits, unfortunately, it cannot do many things that the internet claims it can do. And while there is anecdotal evidence for some of these claims, the scientific research simply does not back them up.
Do I have to get completely undressed? While many find that massage is most enjoyable fully or mostly unclothed, I just ask that clients get undressed to their comfort level, whether that is completely undressed or completely clothed is up to you. Either way, you will be properly draped the entire time.
What is your cancellation policy? I understand that plans can change and there will be times when clients will need to cancel or reschedule. If there is an emergency reason to cancel, I work on a case by case basis to reschedule will be happy to waive fees.
For non emergency reasons, if an appointment is cancelled with at least 24 hours notice, there is no fee. If the cancellation is the day of, but at at least an hour before the scheduled start, the fee is half of the cost and if it is canceled anytime after an hour before the start of the massage then the client will be charged for the full cost of the massage. Payment will be due at the time of the next massage or within one month of the cancellation, whichever is sooner.
What does draping mean? Draping is the means by which a client is kept covered during a massage, usually with a sheet and blanket. Proper draping means that the part of the body I am working on is the only area uncovered.
What should I do during a massage? Most clients find that the best way to enjoy a massage is to close their eyes and enjoy the sensation of massage therapy. There is no need to speak during the session except to let me know if you want more or less pressure, to focus on an area, or ask any questions.
What's included in a full body massage? A full body massage typically includes scalp, face, neck, arms, hands, back, pecs, abs, shoulders, glutes, thighs, calves, and feet. However, each massage is tailored to what you want, so if there is an area you don't want worked on or want specific work on just let me know.
Where do you set up when you come to my home? That's up to you. I recommend a space that's at least 9 foot by 6 foot and has a door so you can get undressed in privacy. Often times a guest bedroom is ideal.
Can I book for myself and a friend back to back and get a discount? While I don't have a specific discount for that, if the massages are in the same home then there would only be one driving fee which would effectively be a $15 discount or $7.50 per person.
What kinds of payment do you accept? I accept cash and checks. At this point I do not accept insurance.
What is your policy for working with minors? I am happy to provide massage therapy for minors, however, state law requires that a parent or legal guardian be present for the entire duration of the massage.
